Goodness, I spent like... all day on this today. o___o Or... 5 or 6 hours of it at least. It's Navi with th ghost (or the illusion of, really) his dead wife, Serelily. (She has a name and design now! Yay!) Yes, Serelily isn't painted... that was intentional. I was trying to make her as... unreal as i could. Navi is /dreaming/, you know. ^__- Maan, this picture took a looootta work. X__x It didn't turn out perfect, or even anywhere near perfect... but I love it anyways, despite the spots I forgot to paint, the warped paper spots (which I tried and failed to fix a bit in Photoshop), and all the places I painted a bit sloppily... because of two things: A.) It's an incredibly sweet picture, doncha think? and B.) The darned thing ate, like, 5 hours of my life! DX
Sooo, first I was listening to music, got inspired, and remembered had said that I should draw Navi with the ghost of his wife... so I started sketching... then I inked it, using a pink ball-point pen for Serelily, and an assortment of black inking pens, a blue ball-point pen, and a light blue gel pen for avi... after that, I proceeded to sketch in the grass with a pencil, and black and green inking pens... then came the painting. The painting was hard, and I killed the paper by overdoing the watercolor paint on the background... hence the unsightly bend-lines on the image. X___x
Daaaw, thankyous! ^o^ 'Tis nowhere near perfect, though... Even if you ignore the bend marks on the [paper, I painted outside the lines in a buncha places, and I forgot to paint between Serelily's toes. Oooh, finally people are calling something I drew pretty instead of adorable! 8D *does a little happy dance*
Fweee, thankies! I just started painting stuffs very recently, actually... like, less than a month ago. X3 Before that, I hadn't used watercolors at all for over a year. =o I randomly used some watercolors to touch up a background for a pen picture a while ago, though, and discovered that watercolor and pen look awesome together... so now I do watercolor and pen more than colored pencil for traditional art. Just my little tangential ramblings for the day.
That's so sweet. I love how the colours are realistic where Navi sits, and it all goes dreamy and pink around Serelily. I may be going a bit pretentious here, but it seems like Navi is bleeding into her world, seeing as his head and arm covers some of the pink sky, but Serelily only touches his hand, while not bleeding into his world (the realistically coloured part of the picture). He is reaching out, but she seems not to be able to, because there's no way back. Don't know if that was intentional
Lovely lineart, as ever!
Aawww, thankies. n__n Yesh, Navi is such a sad character. ;-; I had a hard time getting their facial expressions right... because Navi's eye kept looking square, and well... Serelily is upsidedown. o___o;
Wheee, I hath discovered the wonder of making the sky weird colors!
